Bird Race in China

For members information. There will be bird race organize at Dongting Lake from 6th to 7th December. HF Cheung and K C Lee will participate in the race for the Society.

Dear Obers,
A National Birding Race will be held in East Dongting lake Nature Reserve in China during December 6th to
7th.This is the first national birding race in mainland of China.
12teams from Beijing,Shanghai,Fujian,Guangdong,Hubei,Yunan and Xinjiang will take part in the race.The team
which record the most species during 30 hours will win.Zeiss,Leica,Swarovski,Kowa will sponsors to the race.
Recent years,birdwatching has developed rapidly in mainland of China.More and more people go out with their
binoculars and telescopes to do birding during the weekends and holidays.
We,students from Beijing Normal University,will attend in the race.Our team is called "Hope-wings".
By the way,East Dongting lake is one of the vast wetlands in the lower Yongtse valley.It provides wintering
habitat for at least 120 species of migratory birds including the globally threatened Oriental Stork ,Lesser
White-fronted Goose,Swan Goose,Baer'sPochard,Great Bustard,Hooded,White-naped and Siberian Cranes.
