Resetting login information

I tried to login without ticking "Always stay logged in". Then, I found that the login status was reset once going one level deeper. It was apparently different. Is this correct? It causes a bit inconvenience because I must log out every time before shuting down IE. This is not good for web access using public shared machine.
Can it be written so that so far as I do not leave IE, the login status can be kept, even though I untick "Always stay logged in"?

Oh, it's working with IE6 on WinXP Pro English It has been set to show Big5 code characters with non-English characters. The problem only occurred with IE5.5SP2 on Win2K Pro Simplified Chinese OS. It can show Big5 coded Chinese though.
Strange!?
