Where to go in Long Valley?

I am keen to visit Long Valley to do some birdwatching, now that I have a car which makes travel easier. I know roughly where Long Valley is, but it would be helpful to know exactly where it is that birdwatchers usually go to get all those great photos that I see posted here.
If someone could let me know the names of villages or roads that are good birding areas, that would be great. If anyone is planning to go there sometime and wants some company, that would also be great! I don't work, so weekdays would be OK.
