Hallo, I am a South African that been teaching English in ShenYang for the past 18 months. I have been invited to visit GuangXi province during the New Year Festival. Would like to visit HK in the first week of February. As I have never been there before, I wondered if there would be anyone who would be prepared to communicate with me in the next two weeks and give me some tips on how and where the best birding would be. Thanks Tian

Pls see the info at the icon of "Birding HK" at the above HKBWS logo. It should be appeared under "bird" These are my suggestion of birding HK Shopping mode AM Kowloon Park - Mass Transport Railway (MTR) Tsim Sha Tsui Exit A Could spend 2 to 3 hrs. Major attraction: Common urban birds (but may all new to visitors) + uncommon winter visitors PM: Shopping at Tsim Sha Tsui and Mongkok Serious mode AM: Tai Po Kau - woodland birds - near Tai Po Market railway Station + HKD 20 Taxi mid-day: Long Valley - open country birds - near Sheung Shui railway station + HKD 15 Taxi PM: Mai Po Nature Reserve (if you have a written permit): shorebirds + waterbirds + unexpected birds - Sheung Shui railway station + HKD 75 Taxi late PM: Kam Tin - open country birds, esp Grey-headed Lapwing - HKD 50 Taxi ? from Mai Po Nature Reserve or you could try the new West Rail Ordinary Mode AM: Tai Po Kau PM: Mai Po or Long Valley + Kam Tin Good Luck
