The Symposium will be undertaken by the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ITP, CAS), the Bureau of Sciences and Technology, Tibet Autonomous Region, P. R. China and China Society on the Tibetan Plateau (CSTP)
General
The China State Key Project on Fundamental Research Planning “Formation and Evolution of Tibetan Plateau with Its Environment and Resource Effects”, which has been carrying out from 1998 to 2003, has already made great progress in the key basic theories and practical applications with the aspects such as: continent collision dynamics and the Plateau uplifting mechanism; uplifting of the Plateau and environment abrupt changes; ecology system on the Plateau and global changes; epigenetic processes of the Plateau and their interactional mechanisms; regional sustainable development on the Plateau, etc.
Internationally, The Tibetan Plateau research has been constantly developed, concerned and strengthened. It is, from a series of joint projects based upon regional integrated investigations, developing as a scientific field with synthetical characters.
This symposium will provide a forum for the scientists who are concerning the Tibetan Plateau Research, to strengthen the exchanges of the achievements and information, to promote the research cooperation and research level improvement.
Main topics:
Themes of this symposium will focus on the formation and evolution, resources and environments, and sustainable development on the Tibetan Plateau. The main topics list as follows:
- Formation and lithosphere Geodynamics of the Tibetan Plateau
- Uplifting and Environmental Change of the Tibetan Plateau
- Epigenic processes on the Tibetan Plateau and Global Changes
- Resources, Environment and Sustainable Development in the Tibet areas
