Hi, I know this is short notice but I am in HK for just a couple of days and planning to go out birding tomorrow. I was wondering if there are any activities planned by HKBWS or members for tomorrow 24 November? Any advice on good sites to visit would also be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Susan Myers

It depends on how many hrs you could afford. If you could afford a morning, you could consider to visit Kowloon Park at Tsim Sha Tsui (MTR - underground railway, Tsim Sha Tsui Station Exit A). You could able to see some common birds + winter visitors. There should be a free guided birding tour on 25 Nov morning. If you could spend a half day, go to visit (i) Tai Po Kau Nature Reserve - woodland birds Take the railway, get off at Tai Po Market Station, take a taxi to there (about HKD 20) (ii) Long Valley - open country / farmland birds Take the railway, get off at Sheung Shui Station, take a taxi to there (about HKD 15). "Yin Kong", the name of this area, is better known, so you could tell this name to the taxi driver You could do both if you have a full day to bird. It is better to let the hotel people write down the place in Chinese for you to tell the taxi driver. Good luck and happy birding Captain

Hi Susan, Please have a look at the following: Birding Spots in Hong Kong (click on the list at the bottom of the map to see details including transportation arrangements) You can check the latest bird reports by clicking the links below: Tai Po Kau (#3) Tsim Bei Tsui (#6) or Nam San Wai (not shown on the map) Long Valley (#7) Good birding!
