Dear HKBWS members, The Long Valley outing this Sunday is aimed at promoting bird photography. All people interested in bird photography are welcome. They will have chance to learn different techniques and instruments for talking bird photographs in Long Valley. I also call for bird photographers to help. So be there, and we will have a good time photographing birds. At this time of the year, we expect large number of Wagtails, Pipits, Snipes, and possibly some rare Bitterns. We do not expect this to be a true photography competition. It would be more like an introduction to bird photography. HF Cheung

In the Long Valley outing on 5 Sept 04, it was hot and not very exciting. About 12 participants turned up, and were rewarded by a Common Kingfisher, a flock of about 10 Black-winged Stilt, two White-shouldered Starling, an immature Spotted Dove, several Barn Swallow, and a pair of Painted Snipe. The Long Valley part end at about 10:00 am, and the whole group hurried to Ping Kong for the Malayan Night Heron. Every body with a camera got some photos after donating blood to the mosquitoes. See Carman's photo on the photo gallary. The following are my photos of that day.
