047 Common Teal 綠翅鴨 Mai Po 米埔 20/10/2002 A Baikal Teal, probably eclipse male (or female) was found at Maipo on 20/10.

I am not a expert in ducks but I think it looks like a teal. Any comments from other birders?

Thank you very much for your inspiring suggestion! Actually for myself, I have never seen a Baikal in such plumage. I admit that the identification must have been rather prejudiced. I have checked some books and other photos taken on the same day, but I have not been able to reach any conclusion. Posted is another photo of the duck's speculum for further comments. Any comment is welcomed.

The duck photographed is a male Common Teal. If you look at the fore part of the head, you will see the reddish-brown feathers of a male appearing. Compare this with the male Common Teal image posted later on.
