017 Intermediate Egret 中白鷺 Mai Po Nature Reserve 米埔自然保護區 31/12/2002 This shot of an Intermediate Egret in flight was taken on the last day of Dec 02 at MPNR (米埔 31/12/02). A Great Egret was seen shadowing behind it. I was lucky to have both on the same frame ... Canon EOS-1v, EF600/4L Fuji Provia 100F Best kk -------------- http://www.geocities.com/kkhui_001

Dear KK Hui good pic! But it looks like a great egret rather than an intermediate egret as the mouth line goes beyond the eye. Louis

Louis, Thanks for pointing out the obvious - just testing! But seriously, can you go a step further to tell us why the front bird (in focused) is substantially smaller, even considering the difference in shooting distance, than the one behind which is a Great Egret without doubt (it's OOF here) in my mind. On closer look, the front bird has dull yellow bill and dusky tip in comparison ... Perhaps its a sign of breeding change process? Or perhaps would any experienced birder(s) like to offer some explanations on this? Much appreciated! Best kk -------------- http://www.geocities.com/kkhui_001
