A wonderful photo KK However it is a Black-faced Spoonbill. You can tell because the black facial skin is connected to the eye. Because of the high quality of the photo you can also see the yellow crescent just infront of the eye. This is skin, not feathers. If this wasa European Spoonbill the eye would be completely surrounded by white feathers. Cheers Mike

Hi Mike, Thanks for your response. The following image, a more closeup but less sharp image unfortunately, perhaps tells the id better ... Image at http://www.pbase.com/image/14238793 It was the same bird as shown in my original shot.
