Black-crowned Night Heron 夜鷺 with prey

024 Black-crowned Night Heron 夜鷺

Canon EF70-200mm f/2.8 L USM @200, f/8, ISO400, handheld.
This black crown night heron was standing on a rock near to the rapids in the main lotus pond in Hong Kong Park on June 4th.

It drew a lot of attention from the vistiors and suddenly, it hopped into a shallow area and grabbed a fish it finds managable:

After a while, it flew to the opposite side of the pond and swallowed it.
It could have been better. I was not expecting this kind of situation that day. I was in a mood of randoming shooting and practising photography in the aviary. Appearently, "hardworking" sometimes gives results.
