083 Bonelli's Eagle 白腹山鵰 Mai Po Nature Reserve 米埔自然保護區 26/12/2003 10D+500+1.4x Dear all, Here come another shot of this bird. 648 should have another one which was taken a second before this shot. I agree with Tung that it is juvenile Imperial Eagle. What do you think? Let's continue to suggest the species. Thanks.

I agree with Tung and Daniel Why? The colour of the head and breast is rather creamy and the feathers look shaggy. In my experience Bonellis's is either a darker brown on subadult birds or has clar black underwing coverts on adult birds. There is also a young Bonelli's Eagle around this winter but there is one very good feature - it has leather jesses on each ankle - it has escaped from a falconer. It would be great if one of you guys could photograph that bird. I have seen it in the Pond 20 area. Cheers Mike K

A great landing pose of this juvenile Imperial Eagle, Daniel! This one is probably the same bird I posted earlier, stretched wings on a tree top, if you remember ... KK Hui ARPS www.geocities.com/kkhui_001
