347 Common Tailorbird 長尾縫葉鶯 Wun Yiu 碗窯 06/2/2004 10D EF300 f2.8 + 2X, ISO1600 I am very poor at recognising these birds. Looks like some kind of Prinia to me, may be even this is incorrect.... [url]http://www.pbase.com/image/25805659.jpg[url]

It is a common tailorbird. Please note the color of its head and the long tail.

It is because you post the web link instead of the image link. This is the web link. http://www.pbase.com/image/25805659.JPG This is the image link: http://image.pbase.com/u39/anguslau/upload/25805659.040206_5402.jpg You may change the link within IMG tag into the image link and see the difference.

Thanks, Isaac! I modified the link and it works now. But I used the previous method before and it worked... I am puzzled How do you get this URL? Do you go to the image, then right-click properties, then strip out the host name within the displayed URL? This sees complicated...

Hi Angus, It also failed to display the image on my browser now. Maybe PBASE has some mechanism to prevent images showing, if you are not browsing PBASE. I think IE is using the cached file to display the image. So I prefer to use 鳥類攝影中心. You may also find some members in this BBS there. http://kite.center.kl.edu.tw/vbb/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=7.

An amazingly attractive and characterful picture of a species which, though common and widespread, is surely not easy to photograph. As Editor of the Bird Report, could I ask you if you might be prepared to submit this photo and any others of comparable quality for publication in the Report or the Bulletin? Indeed all photos submitted to the Society for possible publication in any form are very gratefully received. Mike Turnbull

Mike, It would be my honour if you find it useful. Surely I can sumbit this and several others which I like myself. (haven't got too many good ones though ). Please let me know how I can submit and what size (resolution) of file you would like. Regards, Angus Lau

Isaac, I know the reason now. My original method was largely correct. The only problem was that in stead of typing .jpg, I typed .JPG which got translated to a web link in place of the file link. The longer link that you suggested was a temporary link which will disappear after a while. So for other pbase users who might be interested in this as well. The correct file link should be something like: http://www.pbase.com/image/25805659.jpg You can get this link via: 1) display the image on pbase, note the url of the page 2) add .jpg at the end; make sure that your caps lock is not on!! Thanks for the effort Isaac. I hope we all learn something.
