Excellent shots and I like the first two, Hendrix! Exposure and contrast are good. Avoiding taking them in mid-day sun is the key here ... Some tech data would be appreciated both for interest and learning. KK Hui ARPS www.geocities.com/kkhui_001

Thanks KK , I learn a lot from you It is in a bit of cloud day , this can get less contrast and balance the white & dark. AFS300/2.8 + 1.4X on D1X , 80% crop . ISO400 A mode, 1/320 , f 4.5 , Center Weight metering -0.3EV. edit RAW with DEE & curves to keep balance of light & dark. the last one is ISO200 A mode, 1/2000 , f 4.5 , Center Weight metering -0.3EV. the subjet is under , "save" by Nikon Capture DEE. DEE can bring up dark detail but not loss the bright area. very useful to show the black eye in black face but for the 3nd one as it quite under, it get quite noise in dark area. About DEE effect : http://www.look.com.hk/nikon/dee/

Hendrix, I love the first shot, as it clearly shows the "fork-tail"

| Hendrix, the latest Photoshop CS Shadow/Highlight tool offers similar function to the DEE in Nikon Capture 4 by the way ... KK Hui ARPS www.geocities.com/kkhui_001

Can the lastest PS CS replace contrast masking technique? The noise was quite appearent in the lower right of 3rd one. Anyway, excellent capture!

Hendrix, I like the 1st one too. But I prefer to have more crop for my personal taste. Great shots! Daniel
