It is indeed a Great Barbet. The big yellow bill is a distinctive feature. Can you tell us where and when this bird was seen? It is not easy to get a close view of this bird these days.

| I also believe it is GB by its big yellow bill. Since it is in backlighting position, so it shows different body color with the image painted in the “birds of Hong Kong” book. Right? The bird was seen in picnic area, Tai Po Kau on late afternoon, 17 May 03. Actually it was very far away and in backlighting position. It covers only 10-20% of the original photo with my 10D(1.6x factor)+500+1.4x combo (=1120mm). Digiscoping may get a better magnification. There should be two of them. The other one was heard only by its echo to voicing of this one.
