Hi Owen, I remember I told you about the red eyes and yellow eyes before.... This is the tip to distinguish the non-breeding/juvenile plumage of these two heron species....

Thanks Isaac, is it a Little Green Heron? I got the Chinese edition and I think the page no is different to English . This is the only one I found in the book which look the most similar to this photo in my eyes. Thanks..

Owen, You got the correct page, but the eyes of Little Green Heron are also yellowish.

Thanks Issac, I think I can never made it. Until another bird guide coming up with real photo. As for the painting. It's really hard for me to justify which color is which color with my problem eyes I told u before. Unless a photo can make me easiler to identify. ^^

A night heron juvenile. Notice the spots and the red eyes. It isn't a little green heron because of the plumage colour. carmen
