The #2 is good. Like the wing position, Felix! Looks too reddish to me.....

| Daniel, Maybe white balance problem as this shoot was taken at around 4pm and I keep the color temperature a little bit warmer @5800K. Do you think it is problem? Felix on Nov 15th, 2004, 11:43pm, 648 wrote: 但白色的身體曝光有點過度;還是修圖的設定不當引至? 飛 |
| Dear Fei, Here are the technical details (ISO400, f8, 1/800s, C1 processed). Hope it is my problem instead of 10D's. Otherwise, there will be one more reason to upgrade to 1dII la . Any remedy you can suggest? Felix

Like #2. But as mentioned, there seems to be some overexposure. I also felt that there was some strange color on the body. This may be produced if you adjust curve too much (try to brighten up the dark underwing??). I use C1 as well, color accuracy with the 10D is generally pretty good (except with bright yellow using the builtin profile). Using AWB should be fine under most outdoor situations. If you still find your color not accurate enough, you may like to try the camera profiles by ETC. They are very accurate and I have no complaint at all. I have been adjusting my raw workflow all the time over the last 2 years. Still learning... But now I tried to do as little adjustments as possible. I only use +-EV in C1. After loading into PSCS, I'll adjust the black and highlight points using Level, also adjust the contrast via the middle slider. Then may be some final touch up using curve. For more aggressive shadow recovery, I found that PSCS's shadow recovery very effective. It is much easier to do and results much more natural than trying to fiddle with curve yourself. Just my 2 cents worth...

Ageed with Angus ... The funny color on the body of the #2 shot is largely due to over exposure in the first place. Attempt to rectify this using curve was overdone hence the result as is. KK Hui ARPS www.geocities.com/kkhui_001

Thanks all experts for providing valuable advice to my photos and pointing out exactly what I have wrongly done. I followed the suggestions made by Angus again (-0.35ev and auto white balance in C1 + some adjustments in PS). Though I still can't fully handle all adjustments as advised, I re-post the photo #2 which I don't think correctly adjusted but for showing what I have overdone in adjusting the underwing details. Software C1 LE version 3.5.2 for Windows. Exposure time 1/800s F-Number F 8.0 Exposure program Aperture priority ISO speed ratings ISO 400 Exposure bias value EV 0.4 Metering mode Multi-segment Flash Off White balance Auto

Felix, just to show you what PSCS can do for you without getting into complicated adjustments using curve. I downloaded your image and applied shadow/highlight with all default settings... and come up with the following. A slightly better image may result with more tweaking of the parameters, but you get the idea...

謝謝Angus! 有 Photoshop CS 是否就不需要補光呢? Does it mean that Photoshop CS can replace fill flash altogether?

shadow/highlight 過度的話. 都會有 noise. 甚至一條光邊圍注你個暗位架.. 可以補救. 但不等於萬能.. 但其實我 d flight shot. 好多都用左 shadow/highlight...
