After reviewing the images I took last Friday. I suspect I actually saw three juvenile Imperial Eagles instead of two. Below are more pictures of them for those interested. Imperial Eagle (白肩鵰) Mai Po (米埔) 19/11/2004 1D Mark II, EF600+2x Eagle #1 seen at tower hide, perching. #1 f/11, 1/500s, iso400 Eagle #1 seen at tower hide, inflight. #2 f/11, 1/400s, iso400 Eagle #2 seen at bird hide 1, perching. Feathers seems to be darker and stripes more prominant than eagle #1. #3 f/11, 1/500s, iso400 Eagle #3 seen at bird hide 1, perching. #4 f/11, 1/800s, iso400 Eagle #3 seen at bird hide 1, taking off. #5 f/11, 1/800s, iso400 Eagle #3 seen at bird hide 1, inflight. The wing and back patterns seem to be different from eagle #1. #6 f/11, 1/800s, iso400

I was at MPNR ( with visitors and without the camera) in the late afternoon of 18th Nov. and I think I saw "Eagle#2" and "Eagle#3" toghether at rest on the side of Pond 16/17. In fact #3 had a "kill" and #2 was close by, perhaps hoping to get some scraps ! Side-by-side #2 was noticably smaller, less streaked, and more rufous. So I suspect that in your third picture, "Eagle #2" is, in fact, a juvenile ("fulvescens" form) of Spotted Eagle. But I should stress I'm not sure. ( And any other comments/discussion would be welcome ! ) Anyway, I think that when looking at tawny-coloured young eagles the possibility of "fulvescens" Spotted Eagles should be remembered.

I agree with Angus that these are 3 subadult Imperials. I think that fulvescens Spotted Eagles are much paler than this bird and that it is possible to have variation in size in eagles as in people. I do not have enough experience to be certain about this, so would appreciate further comments. I agree that 1 and 3 are different birds Cheers Mike
