Your classic flight shot, kk! Did you get any raptors that afternoon? Finally visited NSW myself yesterday. Quite a nice place. Like the open space there, very convenient for those who drive. I can see great potentials for very low angle closeups there. Lighting was good during late afternoon. How about in the morning, did you notice any spots with good lighting?

I didn't have any luck getting raptor shots last Friday afternoon. As a matter of fact the weather turned bad that day if you recall, Angus. During the days of low tide level, NSW certainly is an alternative to MPNR mudflat for shooting common shorebirds. The early morning light is best when shooting in the direction of the river mouth. Add to that you can shoot by your car if you drive! I'm sure there are other spots around there at the inner ponds but I've yet to explore them. Any suggestions, anyone? KK, try driving up the other side of Kam Tin Main Drainage Channel, at the end is an old wooden bridge. Ten days ago I was there and the BFS were less than 100ft away Bob

1. Thanks for the suggestion, Bob! 2. A nice shot, Owen! You may want to try a lower shooting angle, if possible, next time ... KK Hui ARPS www.geocities.com/kkhui_001

Agree with Owen that NSW is an attractive place to MP especially just before dawn. The only bad thing is NSW is too convenient that there are too many people in holidays. Taken at around 8am on 05/12/2004 And yesterday was really windy and cold..and you can some windy from this avocet and the wave created by strong wind.

好野! 個個都去南生圍! 我有機會見到各位攝影大師啦! 不過我諗我首先要克服懶床及夜睡的壞習慣了!

The biggest problem I have is how to get in and out of the place when not driving since I do not drive all the time. If I get off the bus at Au Tau round about, I think it will be about an hour's walk to the river mouth (and back too after the day's shoot). This may be even further away compared to walking between Castle Peak Road and the Mai Po mudflat. Its fine if I only carry the 300/2.8, but my pack with the 600/4 is about 20kg, its totally exhausting for a day's shoot. Anyone has suggestions in minimising the walk? If I get there by taxi, what would be the best place to catch a taxi? Can I get one easily near the Au Tau round about? Is there any other alternative to get out apart from walking? Thanks for any suggestions!

For pervious shooting event, we take taxi at Sun Yuen Long Centre to river mouth, it's around $40. I think Sun Yuen Long Centre is easier got taxi.

Thanks, Kit and Owen! Did you call a taxi to get out of the place or you have to walk back?

walk back to the other way and take the boat cross the river, a bit shorter and still got some bird inside those pond during the walk. the boat cost you $5 or $4 (return). after the boat trip (only 30s trip), walk out to the main road (takes 5 mins estimate) and you can get green mini-bus to New Yuen Long Centre. that Taxi service tel no. mainly for my MaiPo Trip in case I feel too tired and don't want to walk back out to castle peak road. good luck, in case you lost the way. just call me~!
