Grey Herons chasing each other around

I've been noticed that the egrets and herons like to chase each other on occasions. I was watching at Hide 9 for 4 hours on Thursday and for 3 hours the herons just stood around. At 11.00am they all started chasing each other. Why do they do that? Neil.
