Peregrine and Avocet

I believe it was some sort of Harrier catching an Avocet. Please correct me if you believe this is incorrect. 21/12/2005 NSW 1D Mark II, EF600, f/4, 1/1000s, iso250

An amazing photo! However the bird in your photo looks very dark and to be dark blue-grey, especially on the back, and has a rather short tail. I suspect it is a Peregrine Mike K
