This single flock of Chinese Goshawks over Po Toi today contains over 200 birds (can anyone with sharp eyes count them?). Please see my report under Birding Reports and Tips, Po Toi Spring.

Yes Owen. Today was one of my most exciting bird-watching days ever! Even my wife thought it was a fantastic sight, and she usually gets more enjoyment from watching bird-watchers than watching birds.

I counted 261 on the screen. I could have counted more exactly if I were there. Lucky guys you are!

Thanks Waterblowing. But your picture looks more like a Sparrowhawk to me, possibly Eurasian because the underpart barring seems to go right up the neck with no mesial stripe.

I agree with Geoff, this looks like a Eurasian sparrowhawk. As the barrings goes up to the neck and they are very thin barrings. Also the wing tip is not black like Chinese Goshawk

| This is neither Eurasian Sparrowhawk nor Chinese Goshawk. I think the the tail of this birds is not long enough to suit Eurasian Sparrowhwak and the number of "finger" is also not match. I think it's possibly a Japanese Sparrowhawk. Gary

You may be right Gary. I did say 'possibly'. The photo is a bit grainy in the head area.
