It should be noted that these are Burmese Spotbill A. p. harringtoni, which finds itself at the eastern extremity of its eastern sub-Himalayan and SE Asian distribution here in HK, while the Palearctic East Asian zonorhyncha (the predominant wintering form) also breeds in small numbers here. It's true that most HK ducks migrate further north to breed (wigeon, pintail, shoveler, teal, tufted etc), to Siberia or North-east China But as noted by Mike previously, zonorhyncha is widespread in China/Japan and haringtoni is mostly a South-east Asian taxon with HK at the NE limit of it's range.

Last week there were 4 little ones . Today I saw them in front of Hide 9 and I could only see 2. Neil.

oh my god.. getting less and less..!! seems Hong Kong is not a good place for their offspring, which predator will be ?? Falcon? Cat or Stray Dogs?

Still got Two yesterday 28/5. Did not know why the mother did not keep close to the chicks, they stayed in different island for very long time.

| yes.. what I saw on Sat is the mother keep herself away from the little chicks and those chicks keep try approach and give up finally.
