ID thanks to johnallcock The posting on the 1st Sept (photo taken 25 Aug)appears to show a juvenile Lesser Coucal rather than Greater. Note the pale face, chestnut on the crown, streaked (rather than barred) appearance to the upperparts, dark back, relatively short bill and dark (grey) eye. Juvenile Greater Coucal is generally rather similar to adults but with white barring the the black feathers (and of course dark barring on the wings) Note that adult Lesser Coucals moult into a brown, streaked plumage (similar to the juveniles) during the winter but would not show barring on the wings.
