Splendid forest birds! It's always difficult to take photo of forest birds in China. They are so afraid of human. And you got the focus right on the eye of every bird - really awesome!

Dongting Lake is a National Nature Reserve, famous for wintering waterfowl, such as goose, ducks, waders...etc. But, the weather was foggy and the big birds rather shy. Jun Shan Park is a restricted area, actually it is an Island when the water levels are high. Visitors have to pay RMB44 entrance free to acess the tourist attractions. The rest of the Island has low hills, good network of paths and tea plantations shaded by large fruiting trees. The small birds were quite approachable at the time we were there. You can get an overnight train from Shenzhen to Yueyang and the bus from railway station to the Island. There is a hotel on the Island. More details will be available in the coming bulletin by Richard Lewthwaite, or contact us.
