Before my slides deteriorated too much, I guess I shall share with you some interesting North American waders that I have seen in the second half of 1999 when I stayed there. Some of them might turn up in Hong Kong as vagrants, some are regular migrants, while some are posted for interest. The exact date and techincal details was not recorded. They are from postive and scanned thru film scanner. Lesser Yellowleg Pennsylvania, September 1999 Greater Yellowlegs Connecticut, August, 1999 Sanderling & semipalmated plover Cape May, September 1999 Short-billed Dowitchers New Jersey, August, 1999 White-rumped (left) & Pectoral (right) sandpipers Philadelphia, September, 1999 Grey plover among dunlins Victoria, BC, Canada, December, 1999 Least Sandpipers and Dunlins New Jersey, October 1999 Black Turnstone Vancouver Island, Canada, December 1999 Mountain Plover Colorado, June 1999

Thanks Koel. Sure it was a Mountain Plover in breeding plumage. Corrected. The exact site was Pawnee National Grassland, Colorado, wherer we also saw Burrowing Owl - our first owl in the wild !
