The main target is the population of Scaly-sided Mergansers in the Chang Bai Shan region on the Sino-Korean border. We are so glad to meet the Yao's brothers of five. They are our first layman bird-watching friends in China. Despite they are not expert birders and not supported by local officials, they have made their very effort to publicize and protect the migratory ducks along the mid-stream area of the Yalu River, which is not a nature reserve at all. This Spring, they have spotted 23 scalys already. We have at least confirmed 22 scalys (10 in Yalu River and 12 in Lake Quanyang in Chang Bai Mountain) in the trip.
