A brief statistics of Scalys seen by or known directly to us from reliable sources in 2005
Spring Migration:
Yalu River, Ji An, Jilin Province - 10 seen by us, 23 by the Yao's brother
Quan Yang Lake, Jilin Province - 12 seen by us
Breeding at Bishui Reserve, Dailing, Heilongjiang - 7 breeding nests found
Wintering at Jiangxi (all seen by us with Mr Lin):
Yiyang - 7
Wuyuan - 20
Dexing - 17
We think we need a network to collect more reliable statistics. Estimated population quoted by Red Data Book is less than 3500. What is a more reliable estimate? Where else are the wintering birds? We believe that the wintering birds that we have seen is the biggest number recorded this year.
By the way, were there any Scalys recorded in Cao Hai, Guizhou?
