HI Captain I am thinking of doing a NZ trip this year - did you go on an organised group trip or independently? Are there other areas near Kaikoura that you would recommend? Thx Andrew

Hi Andrew, I went by myself. Actually, it is not a real birding holiday. I just had a chance to join an albatross half-day tour in Kaikoura. So, don't know birding areas around Kaikoura. Perhaps you could search for online NZ birding reports through typing key words onto google.com Good luck Captain
