Over the years, Wuyuan has turn up so many surprises including this Wood Owl. Many of these species are breeding in Wuyuan. I think it is important to understand why this is so. There may be historic reason that trees around that area is the best preserve. But from what we have seen so far, this is not the case. The most interesting birds in Wuyuan are around villages farmlands. The next come to my mind is the weather. Wuyuan in summer is very very hot, and humid. I think the low rainfall may contribute quite a bit to the birds there because the breeding success rate would depends crucially on that. Any other suggestion? HF Cheung
