Dear members, Todays Black-faced Spoonbills who had bred in South Korea (probably North Korea also) make big flocks for migration. Last week I and my colleagues counted BFSs in the vicinity of Ganghwa Island. More than 130 BFSs stay in tidal mud flat and Gaksi Reef on the south coast of Gangwha Island, where have been used as important roosting sites by BFSs and other herons for a long time. At that place we could find about 90 BFSs only, on October 4. Except the flock of Southern Ganghwa area, we found more than 10 BFSs around Yu-do (island) and Gyodong-do (island) nearby DMZ. I guess that they will move to the China across the Yellow Sea soon. It's the time to migrate!!!
