A BFS with colour rings on legs was seen on 18Nov03 morning feeding in GW12, MPNR. The rings are: LEFT: Green (Top), Red (Middle), White (Bottom) RIGHT: Green Sorry that the number on the green ring on its right leg could not be seen. Is it No. 24? Matthew

Dear Matthew, Thanks for posting this interesting sighting. Colour combination for 'A24' is green (on top), red, white. However, colours of some rings become fade after bleaching by sun, wading in muddy water, etc in this years. Please check carefully whether the bird could be A21, green (on top), red, yellow indeed. Does the bird carry the transmitter? Also, how many Black-faced Spoonbills did you count? Tung

Tung, I remembered that that BFS also carried a radio-transmitter and so I thought it was A21 rather than A24. I am recently counting the number of birds feeding in drained gei wai (which is now at GW 12). On 18Nov morning, 43 BFS were seen at 06:45. On 19Nov morning, 48 BFS were seen at 07:15. But I thought more BFS should present at that time in GW 12 as some might feed along the horizontal channels. Hope this helps. Cheers Matthew
