Dear all, Good news keeps coming! The result from Yancheng, Jiangsu, China has also been received and a total of 20 Black-faced Spoonbills were recorded on 17 January 2004. It makes the world known population of the Black-faced Spoonbill to exceed 1200 birds, to a total of 1206 individuals. This is a wonderful time. We just recorded over 1000 birds in Jan 2003 but now number can reach over 1200. However, the spoonbill is still facing several threats in both breeding and wintering grounds and we still need to work hard for rescuing this endangered species. The preliminary result is updated and listed below.
