2006 International Black-faced Spoonbill Census

Dear all,
I am pleased to inform you that the 2006 International Black-faced Spoonbill Census is scheduled on 6-8 January 2006. The Hong Kong Bird Watching Society (HKBWS) still continues to coordinate this census. You are cordially invited to start preparing for the census. To help our preparations, please kindly advise us whether you will be participating the coming census and the site you are responsible to. Please reply to hkbws@hkbws.org.hk and bfspoonbill@hkbws.org.hk .
This census has been well documenting the growth of the Black-faced Spoonbill population and the census can provided an annual comparable figure. Besides a new high number of 1475 spoonbills counted, the number of participants and surveyed site were also higher than any previous census that clearly shows the importance of this international cooperation to the conservation of this globally endangered species. Such success cannot be achieved without your support.

香港觀鳥會會繼續於今年冬季統籌黑臉琵鷺全球同步普查，日期定為2006年1月6-8 日。我僅代表香港觀鳥會邀請大家參與，請將日期記下，並開展準備統計工作。為 了讓我們掌握參與狀況及跟進，煩請告知閣下會否參與是次統計工作、調查地點等 ，請以電郵方式回復至hkbws@hkbws.org.hk，副本送至bfspoonbill@hkbws.org.hk 。
我們每年進行的越冬琵鷺數量普查，以提供可靠和有效的數位。去年除了錄得1475 只黑臉琵鷺這個新高的數字外, 調查人員及地方的數目更是歷年之冠,這反映出國際間的合作在該瀕危鳥種的保育� u作是十分重要。
