3萬隻家燕集體過境的奇觀
台灣屏東縣潮州鎮最近出現了3萬隻家燕集體過境的奇觀，每年到這個季節，成群的家燕就會過境屏東，成千上萬的燕子，一排一排整齊的站在電線上，鎮上的電線全都被燕子佔領了，整群的燕子一到晚上全都集結在電線上，看起來非常壯觀，但是附近的居民卻因此不大高興，因為這些燕子的排泄物，造成當地民眾生活很大的不便，他們乾脆每天想辦法趕燕子。燕子過境是自然界的現象，但燕子排泄物擾民，像這樣的人鳥大戰就這樣天天在屏東潮州上演，而且還每年固定上演一次。

Very interesting !! 
Don't know if this will happen in Hong Kong, better in Mount Davis in where the woodland hasn't got exciting records for a long time ~

I know several sites in Yunnan that a spectacular gathering of Barn Swallow can be seen in winter. Ruili is one such place.

Hi Alvin,
This social gathering of BS happens in Hong Kong ( but not 30,000) during the migration periods around Mai Po.
Keep on tracing in Mount Davis, during the migration period and winter sure U will find some exciting records (not BS). But don’t forget to keep us inform.

To get a feeling of thousands of Barn Swallow roosting together at night, see this photo that was taken on 28(?)-Dec-03 at Ruili, Yunnan, by ML Chiang using Nikon 990.
Sorry that the pixel size is much larger than the guideline, but that is needed for the details and the file size is not large.
