I just want to say a BIG thank you to all those who volunteered their time and energy to help participate in WWF Hong Kong Big Bird Race last Saturday (28 Feb). The event raised almost $1 million for the management of the reserve with 10% of that going towards the building of an extension to the existing floating boardwalk and hide further out in Deep Bay. This will hopefully good view of the birds in the Bay even on a poor tide. The money raised from this year's BBR is going to be even more important for the running of the reserve because of the loss in income because of the closure of the reserve in Feb and maybe through much of March. By the way, the Professionals Team won the 18 hour race with a total of 139 species spotted, with a Daurian Jackdaw seen alongside a Carrion Crow at Fung Lok Wai. Thank you once again to all those who helped out! Lew Young
