There was a full page newspaper report in Wen Wei Po yesterday (1 June). A total of 10 applications for management agreement and public-private partnership projects were received. The result will be announced in November 2005. It also gives a brief summary on the received applications: Management agreement 1. Ramsar wetland (World Wide Fund For Nature Hong Kong: fishpond management, enhance fishpond management); 2. Fung Yuen, Tai Po (Tai Po Environmental Association: establish nature reserve for butterfly); 3. Long Valley (Hong Kong Bird Watching Society: establish shallow water environment for waterbirds); 4. Long Valley (The Conservancy Association: conserve abandoned farmland, encourage organic farming, change dry farmland to wet farmland); Public-private participation 1. Sha Lo Tung (Sha Lo Tung Development Co., collaboration with Green Power: establish an ecological education centre at an abandoned school, plus a complex building for temple and niche for bone ashes, etc.) 2. Tai Ho (Swire Development Co.: ecologica park managed by a trust company, plus residential development outside Tai Ho valley); 3. Wu Kau Tang (長春行: complex park for dragonfly and butterfly, plus low density spa resort and elderly care centre); 4. Mui Sze Lam and Mau Ping (裕緯投資: ecological education centre with long-term conservation management, plus housing for elderly); 5. Yung She O, Sai Kung (True Profit: no detail information) 6. Tin Fuk Wai, Yuen Long (仁興礦務: reconstruction of wetland enclosure, build 10 m wide water channel as buffer, plus 7 blocks of low density mid-rise buildings).
