Its really exciting working so closely with a bird. With hind sight, I could have done a lot better in a number of ways. For instance, I think the background is too dark, I should have shifted position a bit to chosen a lighter BG. I should have also tried getting closer and swap the converters with extension tubes. What I'd have done was not to stack converters since you were so close to your subject.  An 25mm extension tube may gain you a little closer with you 600/4 but not much. The first two pictures were with a 1.4x converter, but cropped a bit. The third picture was with a 2x converter, full frame. I was shooting with a 2x initially from around 12 meters. As I got to around 6 meters, I found that I have trouble fitting the bird in the frame!!    So I took off the 2x and begin shooting without converters. But the image was too small. I have to crawl back to my backpack to get the 1.4x converter to continue...     I was too excited trying to take pictures and didn't really checked the exposure - just relied on evaluative metering.
