This year, I see very few Egrets on Centre Island (Tolo Harbour). Captain and Hung confirmed that there is no breeding pairs there. I was told that the Centre Island population have split into two breeding groups. One is at Penfold, and the other is near Sam Mun Chai. Construction to for the Olympic 2008 have started, but I was told that there were little impact. If so, that is good news. It looks like the closure of Penfold caused by Avian Flu have helped attracting egrets to Penfold. HF Cheung

For members' information. Most of the park will be retained but some tracks for horse exercising (real horse road in Cantonese) will be made. The impact on nesting egrets is expected to be minimal. Captain
