Title: Possible Broad-Billed Sandpiper at Mai Po

Digiscoped at about 150 meters yesterday at Mai Po.  Is it a Broad-Billed Sandpiper in the middle of this group?

Neil,

Another gentleman and I might be watching the same little bird from hide #7.  Both of us were attracted by its very conspicuous split supercilium, even at such a distance.  It was feeding actively, walking around here and there.  I would also suspect it is a broad bill sandpiper.  Let us see what the experts are going to say.  ::)

Yes, you're right. It's a Broad-billed Sandpiper, which is to be expected at Mai Po at this time of year. Apart from the split-supercilium, the longish bill with a distinct kinked tip is a good way of identifiying this species.
