Kap Lung has a very good record of turning up migrants during September and early October, including HK's first Brown-chested Flycatcher in 1995 and a Fairy Pitta in 2000.

I visited on early on Sunday morning (3 September) and had the following:

Dark-sided Flycatcher: 1
Pale-legged/Sakhalin Leaf Warbler: 1 (a rather green one)
Eastern Crowned Warbler: 1
Arctic Warbler: 2

There were also quite a few resident species, including Yellow-cheeked Tit and a flock of perhaps 40 Grey-chinned Minivets, though as usual overall the bird density was low.

The best area seems to be where there is a sign to stop the mountain bikers going down further the trail to the catchwater - sadly it is generally ignored.  I wouldn't want to stop them enjoying themselves, but they do represent something of a danger at this site so beware, and get there very early.

I explored the area at the top of Kap Lung on Saturday birding along the Route Twist Nature Trail

Birds seen included

Yellow Rumped Flycatcher 1
Arctic Warbler 2

6 Sept 06 06.45 - 10.30

Brown Chested Jungle Flycatcher - 1
Brown Flycatcher - 1
Grey chinned Minivet - 20
Great Tit - 10
Japanse White-eye.

Not many birds but great views of the Brown Chested Jungle Flycatcher # 311 for the year and a HK tick for me

Kap Lung 20-9-2006 06.30 -09.30

A walk along the Kap Lung trail was very quiet the only birds of note being 2 Dark-sided Flycatchers
