Title: Re: 8 Illegal X-Border Fishermen Arrested: 20/7 八 Post by Mike Kilburn on Aug 8th, 2006, 5:10pm In relation to the injured AFCD staff member: I learned that he was injured when the hovercraft overturned, but thankfully he has since made a full recovery. He was not injured as a result of violence from mudskipper collectors - AFCD staff have been threatened in the past. AFCD's work in protecting the Ramsar site is only possible with the co-operation of Marine Police, who have the authority equipment and training to handle such situations. It is good to see that positive action has been taken. Members are encouraged to continue reporting any mudskipper cllectors anywhere in Hong Kong Territory as they are all illegal border crossers and the Police should be protecting Hong Kong's borders from them. AFCD only have authority inside the Ramsar site, bu this is not true for the police. as stated before, call 999 and report "illegal border crossers" - they are not illegal immigrants because they do not stay inHK, but go back at the high tide. However, they are still illegal! Cheers Mike K |
