The press release on a joint statement advocating the setting up of a Hong Kong Nature Conservation Trust made by 11 environmental NGOs and the Heung Yee Kuk was nearly called off at the last minute on 4/10/06, when Heung Yee Kuk incorporated a statement on the harmonization of the rights of landowners and conservation at very short notice. The statement was finally released in the evening after the additional statement was modified to the satisfaction of  participating NGOs.
