Workshop on digiscoping

I would like to thank all those who turned up on Wednesday night during the typhoon and those who braved the rain this morning and turned up in Kowloon Park with umbrellas. We couldn't get around too much due to the rain but we were lucky to see a couple of  Rose-Ringed Parakeets in a nearby tree.  Here are some of the photos taken during the discussion.  If you look carefully you can see the rain drops.
If anyone still has any questions or would like info on equipment , you can email me at neilfif11@yahoo.com.au
Thanks also to the organisers for the smooth running of the event. Neil.
ps the photos are a little noisy as we had to use iso 400 to get our shutter speed up to around 1/100 second. A remote control was used.

Neil,

Like both shots, including the rain, even it did frustrate me in trying to see the Ruddy Kingfisher which was still at Po Toi today. Wish I could take shots like this.

However, should also point out that the big red shoulder patches mean these are Alexandrine Parakeets, not Rose-ringed.

I mentioned at the workshop and the outing that I was planning to test a digicam with binoculars and report back.  I convinced my wife that she needed the new Leica C-Lux 1 digicam on Sunday and I took it with me when I visited Wetlands Park today in the rain (again). As I don't have an adapter I was resting the bins on the shelf in the hide and hoping the Image Stabilsing would work. Here are the results using my Swarovski 8.5 x 42 bins. The first photo is at wide on the camera which is 28 mm and the second is about 100 mm , so about 17x optical magnification. It is a bit difficult to center the camera when handholding so I'll find a little sleeve to fit inside the rubber eyecup.
I hope this is of interest to some. Neil.
