You can see the steaming hot air in the background and the sandpiper mother was gasping to relieve from the heat. The post is meant to remind us of the hardship of birds breeding in the wild.     This particular nest was discovered when the ranger cleared the field for cultivation a few days before we took the picture (the field was cultivated every year for a long time). As a result, the nest lost its canopy and natural protection. This is a sad story. Luckily there are fierce but chained dogs around so most wild predator might not be brave enough to attack the nest.
