Sponsored by the Environment and Conservation Fund, the Hong Kong Bird Watching Society is conducting a project to improve public awareness of the ecology of terns that breed in Hong Kong. The project is being undertaken by the Tern Research Group of the Society. One of the tasks in the project is to carry out survey on the breeding terns inside Hong Kong waters. This is a good opportunity for members to contribute to the study on breeding terns in Hong Kong. All HKBWS members are welcome to join the two coming surveys in July, details of which are:

12 July 2003 (Saturday) 08:00 to 16:00, start from Sai Kung Pier Southeastern waters: Tai Long Wan, Ninepin Group and Po Toi Islands

19 July 2003 (Saturday) 08:00 to 16:00, start from Aberdeen Southern waters: Soko Islands, Shek Kwu Chau, Cheung Chau

Members who are interested may send an email to hkbws@hkbws.org.hk at least two days before the event. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.

Note: The surveys will be carried out in relatively open waters. Some people may experience discomfort under rough sea conditions.
