HK Seabird Survey 香港海鳥調查

Dear HKBWS members,
HKBWS is going to carry out a Seabird Survey this Spring. The survey will be carried out once every three days. The first day will be on March 21. There are places on the boat for people who are willing and able to help. For details, please contact YU Yat Tung (yya ttung@hkbw s.org.hk) (who will be away this week). I will arrange with the office to give you more details later.

Preliminary Result of HK Seabird Survey 香港海鳥調

Dear Members,
I have recently received the raw data from YYT, the chief surveyor of the HK Seabird Survey this spring. I have done a brief analysis. Here are some preliminary results.
1. Sum of all birds seen in 22 survey days: 8792

海鳥春來 觀鳥大豐收
【明報專訊】香港觀鳥會剛完成今年春季的海鳥調查，不單觀察到過去多年來在本港水域累積錄得的所有賊鷗科及燕鷗科鳥類，更進一步證實香港以南水域有大量海鳥(包括品種及數量)進行春季遷徙，並首次在港拍攝到烏燕鷗。
首見烏燕鷗
由3月至5月共進行了24次調查，海域包括果洲群島一帶海域、蒲台島至南丫島以南 一帶海域。
今次調查發現數目最多的是紅頸瓣蹼鷸，24天內共錄得6616隻，數目是歷年之冠， 調查發現，多群紅頸瓣蹼鷸都在這段期間途經香港。
觀鳥會說，燕鷗一直都是香港海鳥非常重要的種群，今年的調查成果，加強了多種燕鷗數據，包括白腰燕鷗、普通燕鷗、大鳳頭燕鷗。白腰燕鷗的移徙一直都是觀鳥者和鳥類學家的一個謎團，在香港獲得的資料對全球解開這個謎團極為重要。
今年，調查發現白腰燕鷗於4月中至5月初途經香港，在兩天內分別記錄到100和54 隻，而在其他日子則幾乎沒有紀錄。相反，普通燕鷗(212隻)和大鳳頭燕鷗(10隻)� 漸X現日期較長，但在調查期間每天所錄得的數目卻很少。該會更首次在香港拍攝 到烏燕鷗。
中國沿海首次系統調查
觀鳥會表示，根據中國鳥類學會的水鳥專家指出，這次春季的遷徙海鳥調查，可能 是整個中國沿海有史以來首次有系統的調查，對海鳥的研究有重要的啟發。
