We spotted 3 Black Face Spoonbill at the "Bin Hai" area of Shanghai, a small piece of wetland about 25km south of Pudong International Airport. Cheers from Jimmy Ng ( now residing in Shanghai )

Dear Jimmy, I think I met you several year ago in the Dongting Bird Race, isn't it? Glad to know that you are still watching birds. Have you join local birdwatching organizations in Shanghai? HKBWS and Birdlife International will have join training workshop in Hangzhou in late August. May be I will meet you there. Going back to BF Spoonbill, I think there are several hundred of them along the China coast in the breeding season. So far there are still no accurate number of them in summer. May be that will change in the next two years. HF Cheung

Yes Mr Cheung, That was me whom you met at DongTing 2004. If not the 2005 Dongting contest was cancelled due to Birds' Flu, I might have represent the Shanghai team at the contest. Let's cross our fingers for this coming 2006 contest. Me and Irene now get our "residence" status in Shanghai. If you will take a browse at the WWF-China BBS, you will know that both of us are active in the Shanghai birdwatching group. I am probably the first Hongkong member of the Shanghai Wild Bird Society. I am trying my best to keep the birdwatching going on with me. This weekend Irene is organising a Zhejiang-Shanghai-JiangSu birdwatchers gathering at Nanjing Lao-Shang. We last saw a Paradise Flycatcher couple nesting there, and we are gong back to visit them this weekend. Yes, I know about that activity plan for August in Hangzhou, hope to be there, if my work schedule allows. Cheers from Jimmy Ng
