Wild birds are protected under the Wild Animals Protection Ordinance of Hong Kong. Any person who wilfully disturbs, takes, removes or injures wild birds or their nests and eggs commits an offence and is liable to a maximum fine of HK$100,000 and imprisonment for 1 year.

Please report to Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department if you find anyone attempting to harm the swallows.

When you see students throwing things at the nests,  please stop them immediately. Note the name of their school, who could then be reminded to strengthen education in this area.

there are a lot of nest in the Sai Kung Town, in those ten years they keep coming back and build the nest. In the peak year I can see hundreds of Barn Swallow fly around in the town, but it was lower in recent year.

I will check the no. of nest and infrom you later.
