Kwan and I saw this same flock of birds and some White Winged Black Terns as well.  I think the second picture is a Whiskered Tern in non-breeding plummage. But I don't know why the bird in the third picture had a yellowish forehead.

I saw the 1st bird too on 3 May in Tsim Bei Tsui but did not capture it because of the rain.....Daniel :-[

BTW, I like the 1st one. Will "unsharp masking" help for a more clear picture? ???

Hi Daniel,

I cropped out about 70% area for the 1st pic. (ISO200)So I sharpened it with photoshop. It appears less noisy or grainy without sharpening but more blurred. It was about 5:20 pm and I underexposed my picture to gain shutter speed. Then I use digital exposure compensation to light it up. But it lights up the noise as well. The 2nd and 3rd pics (about 5:45 pm) used ISO400 and also become grainy and noisy. The 3rd pic is worst since I cropped out about 80%. Just used this pic to show the yellowish forehead.

wasn't that "yellowish forehead" the right wing of the tern on the 3rd picture? ;)
